What Is An SEO Keyword?

An SEO keyword can be a single word, a phrase or a complete sentence. Used in conjunction with your keyword tool platform. Low competing keywords can be a powerful way to improve your website rankings.

How To Add Keywords To Your Website

Have a look at the material below on how to add keywords to your website using various methods. I can help to show you how to place keywords throughout your website and some rule of thumb guidelines to insert your chosen keywords correctly.

Why Do Keywords Really Matter!?

There is a lot of unhealthy hype from people out in the online World about what Google perceives on the importance that KEYWORDS play for folks with online businesses.

Google still places a lot of emphasis on keyword placement! In fact, the percentage is from around 15 to 16% of the total Google pie. Google, Bing, and Yahoo are still very traditional search engines in the sense that they all need keywords to utilize their Web Crawling Bots.

Increasing Your Page Rank With Hyperlinks!

An external hyperlink is used to connect information from one page of your website to an external source that shows relative information. Hyperlinks are a great way to place rich keywords as you link to an external website and direct the link anywhere you want. Hyperlinks and good keywords are great for search engines as they love external links that show you are offering additional information to your readers.

Keyword research platforms such as Jaaxy, are a good way to rank higher in search engines and get a great result with your chosen keywords. When I first started online, it took me months of continues research to grasp the concept of keyword placement in Hyperlinks. Luckily for you, I have done all the hard work for you and I’ve included an awesome vid below about Jaaxy keyword training.

How To Get Your Website Ranked Higher!

#1) Inserting Permalinks #2) HTML Internal  Links #3) Image Placement. #4) Anchor Text (Hyperlink or External Link)  #5) Tags In Posts. #6) Meta Description Tags. #7) Title Description Tags.  I can help you With these 7 methods, and when implemented correctly can truly help you in your quest to achieve #1 ranking with search engines.

#1: What Is A Title Keyword In Permalinks? (WordPress Websites)

Folks online ask me all the time, “what is a title keyword in permalinks and how do we insert them.” Simply put, Title Keywords go in unison with your Websites Name. For example, my page is called, To Learn Seo Keywords. Your title keyword, when chosen from an SEO keyword tool should look something like as shown below.

What Is A Permalink
What Are Permalinks  As shown in the image, the permalink is inserted just after my website title and this is how it will look on google.

Now the trick here, and for the aim of search engine BOTS, is to fit your chosen page title keyword into the underlying Heading using an H2 Header. Please remember that your chosen keyword must make perfect natural sense in your H2 Title. You can also use your chosen title tag to create an extra subheading using an H3 Sub Header. Again, place your title keywords in this short opening paragraph.

A good guide to follow regarding title keywords would be; 3 on the top section, and 2 on the bottom of your page. But be aware, keyword stuffing will attract penalties with Google and other major search engines, so keep your title keywords to under 5 % of the total page content and only put them in where they make sense.

More information on H1, H2, and H3 Headers can be found in the H2 Header link above.

#2: HTML Internal Links

An HTML internal link are hyperlinks on a web page that leads from one page or resource on the same domain. This is an excellent way to provide your readers with additional info, whilst utilizing keywords. Hyperlinks are best utilized when connecting information from the page you are on, to a new source on a different page within your web site containing similar content. Keywords used in links must make perfect natural sense within a sentence!

Let’s say I wanted to connect information from one page to the other on my website. Placing keywords in your internal links is a great way to make your web page SEO friendly and search bots love them. To place an internal link, just follow the instructions below.

#3: Inserting Images On WordPress

Placing good quality keywords in images can be an awesome way for search engines to find your images on any one particular page. When you have found an image and have downloaded it to your media files, you can then select the pic to be placed on your website page. But be careful, your alt and description tags should not be keyword stuffed.  A great method to portray your images is; Pretend you’re describing the image to a visually impaired Person that can’t see your images all that well.

Click on the space of your page where the image is to be placed.

  1. Go to the WordPress toolbar and click; Add Media.
  2. Once your media image box opens depicted in the above image, click on; Upload Files.
  3. A “Select” Image box will appear. Click to connect with your computer’s media file
  4. Once in your picture files, select the one you want and this will appear in the WordPress Media File.
  5. Your image is all set to be placed in the editing box. Click on the image to insert in the media box, as seen opposite.

Please Note: When downloading images of the net, make sure you have changed the file name from image-12345835.jpg to something more SEO friendly. Eg, window-sills.jpg. When doing this, don’t put the image jpg… Your computer will do this for you!

To rename files already downloaded into your computer, please follow the following directions on this YouTube video below.

Once this is done, you will see spaces to put your Alt Text, Description, and Caption. In the alt text, put in a brief outline of what the image is about, eg; Windowsill of a house. Place a bit more detailed info in the description tag, eg; Windowsill of a house with an old blue kettle pot plant.

What is an Anchor Text?

What is an Anchor Text on your website pages? An Anchor Text has similar characteristics to external hyperlinks and both have a line underneath them. When clicked, the anchor text allows you to redirect your readers to link to an external website on the net. Your anchor text should include keyword rich words or phrases. Try to avoid such terms as click here now and click to see contents. A good example of a good anchor text would be; Free SEO keyword tool and how to find low competition keywords.

How To Insert An Anchor Text Into Your Page

Insert and Edit Link Screen.

Inserting links into your page can be done by left-clicking your keyword phrase and capturing it in blue. Click on the link button and click the small “gear icon”, then right-click in the URL box opposite and press paste. I always have links on a new tab using the; Open link in a new tab box, which is located just below the URL. Once you are happy, click the insert link and you’re all done. You now have your very own external hyperlink, how cool is that!

You can also use anchor text (hyperlinks) to redirect to other websites to explain a term in greater lengths, this will add credibility to your website and is great for SEO. When using anchor text, you must link to similar topics within other pages on your site, and the same theology applies when linking to external sites!

#5: What Is A Tag?

What is a tag on your posts? Tags are placed in your blog posts to index your page and can be a fantastic way to get your pages noticed by search engines. The Tags can be placed on the side widget off your website or at the bottom of the page. Tags can help people navigating pages and show them subjects of interest. For SEO purposes, tags carry some relevance in indexing a Website Post Page.

#6: What Is The Meta Description?

What is the meta description that is placed under your Title Tag? Meta description keywords are the index of your pages and blogrolls and let your readers and search engines know exactly what your page is all about.

Image describes how the meta description tags look on a Google page.

As above, the main body of writing under your Title Tag is called your description tag, and this is the main part that will get people to click. The description tag should be under 60 characters and is the introductory (first paragraph) of your Website. The idea is to use the permalink title keyword (How Is A Keyword Used) in the main body of the text and can be used up to 5 times within your page. But again, it should make good sense within the paragraphs you are placing them in. If you follow my suggestions, you can be ranking on Google, Yahoo and Bing like a winner in no time.

#7:  Title Tags

Title and meta description tags on first page of google
Title and Meta Description Tags

Title Tags are used for the main heading of Google and other search engine pages. The title tag should be the same wording as your permalink tag, and as you can see in the image to the left, they should be separated by a hyphen and each new word should start with a capital.

I have included a video below for you good folks, and the subjects most related to us are; Title Tags and Meta Description Tags.

    Thanks, Nadia.

    1. You’re not alone there, Nadia. Learning how to place keywords to get the website indexed by search engines is as important as site the content within posts. Without placing keywords in the correct way, our websites have a very low chance of being indexed highly in the SERPs. Really glad you enjoyed my post and I hope you now understand how to use keywords.

  2. Hi Jeff!

  3. Are keywords one of the tools that drives traffic to your site and a blog? Without good keywords, can we have traffic coming into my website?. I gather the search engines are always looking for good content that has a good amount of quality information to get a good ranking in google. Do longtail keywords help you rank higher over the smaller phrases on the Serp listings?

Thank you in advance for answering my questions, Norman.

    1. Keywords are still regarded by Google as the main way search engines index your site’s information! The better the keywords in relation to the website’s content will give you a top chance to rank highly. Quality content on your site is also very important because it shows search bots your site has a valuable context that’s worth indexing. The keywords you use must make sense to the related content and 5 chosen keywords per post or page.

Long tail keywords are a great way to rank higher and compete with the big boys with deep pockets competing for top spots in the SERP’S. Choose a long tail that has the same meaning as your Post Title Keyword and use as your H1 meta Tag. A fantastic way to use long tail keywords is to choose a short domain name and use them as your Title Tag. Just make sure you keep it under 60 characters when doing it this way.

Hoped this has helped you out!

      Best regards, Jeff.
